Another year, another Cake Tin heartbreak. On Friday night against Wellington, we played about 79 minutes and unfortunately let them through for a try again, just like last year. It seems like the same old same old. Two points would have been better than one in this competition but the boys did well and we've got this week to look forward to now. No one except our closest supporters backed us to get within 40 points of Wellington. We were written off in the papers down there and even the TAB was paying $7 for us to win. It's a nice feeling that we could compete but it would have been nicer to win. What really impressed me was our defence. For the past three weeks we've been pretty poor at it.
Defence is all about attitude _ and on Friday night we were getting back to where we were two years ago. It's hard to look back in the past and 2004 was a totally different team but we want to start something again. We're a bloody good team and we've just got to start believing that. Once you get that belief you realise the star players on the other side have just got two legs like us.
Unfortunately one of the things I really didn't need to discover last week was a disgusting habit of my roommate, who may or may not have started at fullback against Wellington.
I'll just call this guy `Mully', but he chews his toe nails and he talks and laughs in his sleep. He was saying something about ``Timothy''... it was a pretty scary night.
