With their final run before the ITM Cup squad is announced, a Steamers XV pipped Taranaki 20-13 in New Plymouth. The Steamers scored 3 tries, the first to Sikeli Vorenasu who has some real gas and the other two to prop forward Tristan Moran. Dan Waenga started at 10 and kicked a penalty and a conversion. It was the first chance for former Wallaby Steve Kefu to show what he can do and he formed the midfield pairing with Jason Hona.
