I love the Bay and have been a staunch supporter for the whole of my life. Although I am only 19 years old I have witnessed great pleasure and pain while supporting the beloved Steamers. The highlight for me would have to be the promotion back to first division and that historic game in Wellington back in the division where we belong. The low point would have to be that day in 1996 (even though it didn't happen).
The thing I like the most about the Bay team is how approachable the players are, they actually care about the state of the union, unlike those other money hungry buggers at other provinces like dirty scumbag Waikato. If other unions stopped poaching our players the Steamers would undoubtedly be unbeatable in the first division. It seems like more than bad luck that we have the best secondary school rugby team in the country but none of the players coming out of Rotorua boys ever seem to end up playing for the Bay.
In the last few seasons dirty scumbag Waikato have poached many of our leading schoolboy players including Liam Messam Stephen Setafano and Willie Ripia, all New Zealand age group representatives. We have to stand up as a province and encourage the young players in the region to sign up to the newly formed academy. Then let the results speak for themselves.
Go the bay, go all the way this year and make us proud.
Sincerely,
Staunch Steamers Supporter
