The current Bay Steamers
adage of “Bay Proud” was certainly on display at the Rotorua International
Stadium on Saturday (9 August 2008) - when the Steamers out played and out
classed Counties Manukau 45-3, in their second Air New Zealand Cup match of the
season.
Going into the contest, most
Bay supporters expected their team to win - but the surprise was the dominance
displayed by the Steamers through out the encounter.

This Saturday will be a busy
day for rugby fans in the Bay! Rotorua will play host to the 2008 Bartercard
Baywide Club Finals Day at Rotorua International Stadium and then supporters
will get the opportunity to see the Bay of Plenty Steamers vs. Counties Air New
Zealand Cup game scheduled for 5.30pm.

With the pre-season
skirmishes completed, the Bay of Plenty Steamers start their Air New Zealand Cup
campaign, this Thursday (31 July 2008) night. The Steamers face Tasman in
Blenhiem.
The Steamers will enter the
first game of the Cup with a quiet air of confidence, after building a three
from three-win record in the pre-season match-ups. Victories over Manawatu and
North Harbour were followed up with a narrow, but solid, win over traditional
rivals Waikato last Thursday night.
