Mr. Mel-Slop - What a Whizz!
Written by the loving keyboard of Drago
Wednesday, 14 January 2004

It was with pleasure that I viewed the letter from Mr Mel-Slop and his justification why Waikato has got it right with the selection process.  As Mr Mel-Slop has been there for over 6 years, I believe the devoted followers of the BOP mafia should know that he is right!!  I mean this is the same articulated prose that he reprints year after year after year.  He knows that the Steamers rarely have the players up to the Chiefs standard so he uses the same well reasoned argument each year!!  However this year he has had help from Mr Mitch’s PR Company’s (Word of Mouth) subsidiary in Hamilton – Foot in the Mouth!

Ye of little faith in Mr Mel-Slop’s diatribe, he is of course right.  He states that despite having the Waikato CEO, himself, his tribe of dung recyclers, 22 players, and the ex coach, “the fact that Waikato never has, and still doesn't dominate the Franchise”.  However you don’t know how he worked this out well I found his notes from which he did his calculations.  It went like this:

Draft players                              2 spots

Byron and Tom                          2 spots (they don’t count as being Waikato)

Waikato players                         10 spots (they only play half well in super 12)

BOP Steamers                          12 spots (3 times the players of Waikato mob)

So as you can be so proud of it!! The Steamers do dominate the Chiefs!!

Now I also heard many of you say, what about the Scumbag v’s Steamer result last year, which Mr Mel-Slop kindly ignored in his essay to us.  There was a good reason for him ignoring this result.  Also attached to his calculations on how the Steamers dominate the Chiefs, I found a receipt from Suzie’s catering company, Johannesburg, South Africa for Tuna sandwiches that were given to the Steamers prior to the match!!

Now when Mr Mel-Slop comes to Baypark I believe that you should give this follicley challenged marketing whiz a break.  It is obvious from his kindly written note that he knows far more than we ever will and I do not believe it is kind to view him as a condescending Richard Cranium after all!!!!!!!!

Love,
Drago
