Like all families, the BOP Mafia has a rigid structure and hierarchy. Normally we would keep this stuff secret, but we are a fearless Mafia so here are the full details. Please don’t reveal this to anyone unless you are sure they are BOP Mafia members. Warning: don’t be fooled by the blue and yellow colours, ask for proof – the mark of the tee.
"The Leadership Team"
The Don - HoriBop
Undisputed head of the Family and pie-eater extraordinaire, HoriBOP is our leader. He gives the orders and the rest of us follow. If he says “Jump!”, we say “How high?”. Known for his personal acts of bravery, he doesn’t just talk the talk, he walks the walk as well. Did he not kidnap the Harbour Master in 2004? I rest my case. Still remains the Don despite scurrilous rumours of a move to Steel.
The Under-Don - Donsteppa
The man who controls the day-to-day workings of the BOP Mafia is Donsteppa. He tries to away from the publicity (lately unsuccessfully), preferring to live in the shadowy underworld where he can work his contacts and pull all the strings. He is currently operational deep in enemy territory trying to arrange a Steamers takeover of the Chiefs...
Advisor - MiniBOP
This man has the ear of the Don, MiniBOP is never far away from HoriBOP and HoriBOP always seeks the wise guidance of MiniBOP before completely ignoring what he says. But the two are inseparable like Punch and Judy, Jackson and “best first five in the country”, the Chiefs and mediocrity, with the comic size difference always great for a few laughs!
"Capos"
These are the organisers of the BOP Mafia, each operating in a separate area and controlling untold numbers of operatives.
Auckland Warlord - Auckland University Student Chapter
The latest member raised to the level of Mafia Capo for good deeds in infiltrating the sprawling filth that is Auckland, the Warlord gains extra gold stars for landing the tough role of University Student and braving dangerous assignments such as endless keg-parties and plentiful women.
Baron Silas Greenback – Secret Evil Lair Somewhere In London Chapter
Possessor of the death ray, a man so feared in New Zealand that he has gone to England to recruit more members. Tee-shirt sales indicate he is having some success with his methods.
Bay Imports – Sydney, West Island Chapter
Sent to run the Australian division when successive Ranfurly Shield agonies became too much for him, he continues to spread the BOP word amongst the unwashed heathens (once he has explained that it is Rugby and not League or Aussie Rules.)
JP – Hamilton Chapter
Recently sent as an operative deep into the heart of Mooloo territory, irony and sarcasm are his weapons and he isn’t afraid to use them.
KiwiPie – Home Base Chapter
A favourite of HoriBOP (due to having the word Pie in his name), KiwiPie is an outsider brought in to look after Tauranga as so many of the Mafia have left over the years. Has BabyPie in tow, groomed to take over in future years.
Drago - Home Base Chapter
Like all good Mafia, he has tentacles in all sorts of organisations to ensure that the BOP mafia view and wants are heeded at the top level. Modus operandi - bribery and corruption. Has a view that all cowbells should be handed in at the Kaimais for melting down to contribute to the new Baypark roof.
"Outsider"
BartMan – Despite being a Swamp Fox supporter, Bart was used in the formative times of the Mafia to build our infrastructure. Unfortunately he now knows too much and isn't allowed back out…
"Soldiers & Associates"
The other 750-odd known members of the Mafia. They can become senior members of the Mafia by submitting an article and a profile... or by the more standard method of bribes of pies & beers for those higher in the organisation.
