By the time you get your weekly dose of Badger droppings, one team will be trudging off the luxurious Cake Tin turf in Welly-wood as competition leaders.
Up in the coaching boxes, Bay boss Kevin Schuler will either be rattling his rosary beads in delight, or Wellington assistant Andre Bell will be dancing a quiet jig, his cheeky grin on his face.
They'll deny it, of course, but there's a little bit of bile between the two. Two years ago, Bell was coaching the Steamers with Schuler his assistant.

Steamers fans probably feel that they need to pinch themselves to make sure its

Anyone who has been to Okara Park in Whangarei will know it is a rather forlorn, unloved place that is sparsely populated on a Northland match day. It does have a certain charm to it, mainly for the hardy souls who attend every game that are worthy of admiration given Northland's form in the decade to date.

Add the three pre season wins, and seven on the
trot for the reborn Steamers. Odds on that at the TAB pre season would
have been worth putting a bob or two on!!
This week though, a massive speed bump for the
mighty gold and blues, the other unbeaten team in the NPC, Wellington. Not
Waikato, who have yet to win a match this season...
