latimer1602Tanerau made it onto the field for 20 minutes in the opening test against France on Saturday and looks set to start the second test this coming Saturday. Despite defeat for the All Blacks, Latimer was prominent in the area where the starting loose forward trio were lacking - at the breakdown. Good luck to Lats this weekend.

The second stage in the selection of the 2009 Bay of Plenty Steamers will take place in Rotorua on Wednesday (17 June 2009) when the BOP Wasps play a Bay Fifteen. Originally scheduled for last Wednesday, the game was moved back seven days, when colds and flu struck both sides early last week.

The replay of last years Bartercard Premier championship between Tauranga Sports and Rangataua, was another battle of attrition before Tauranga Sports emerged victorious. The Saturday (13 June 2009) match took centre stage in the opening round of the Bartercard Baywide title race.

The Main Event Kicks Off this Saturday

The main event has arrived in the 2009 Bay of Plenty club rugby competitions, with the first round of the Bartercard Baywide Championships kicking off this Saturday (13 June 2009).

Thirty-two teams will be chasing the four Bartercard Baywide Championship titles that are on the line during the next nine weeks.

Whakatane Marist Sneak into Top 8

It took to the final whistle, of the Bartercard Baywide Division One Blue section match between Whakatane Marist and Te Teko, before the last top echelon championship contender was confirmed.

The scene was set for a battle of attrition, with both teams locked on nine points going into the final Baywide qualifying match – with the last spot in the Bartercard Baywide Premier championship on the line.
