The Mafia has spoken. Our scientific poll has decided that former prop James McGougan should play 10 until Mike Delany returns from injury. A massive 37% voted for Googs, ahead of Dan Waenga and Nick McCashin who were neck and neck for 2nd place. Finishing outside the medals was new referee Sir Glen Jackson and Phil Burleigh, who will have to settle for wearing the 12 jersey.
There are issues with McGougan playing first five that we hope the coaching staff are able to deal with. For scrums and lineouts, our half-back is going to have to hold the ball until Googs gets into position - this might slow our back play down just a little. He will also be expected to do his fair share of hitting rucks.
