Try of the Season
Equal 3rd - Lelia Masaga coming back against the traffic to beat 5 players against Counties.
Colin Bourke finishing after brilliant inter-passing from the forwards against Otago.
2nd - Lelia Masaga finishing after Colin Bourke had burst 50 metres from the back of a scrum against Tasman.
1st - Colin Bourke v Hawkes. Colin Bourke chips and chases down the right wing and slide in for the try, a superb solo effort.
Next Bay All Black
2nd - Sam Cane. It could be a few years away but Sam Cane showed enough as an 18 year old to have Bay fans looking ahead to a bright future.
1st - Colin Bourke. Many thought he should have been included on the All Blacks Grand Slam tour but he was selected for the Barbarians. Will need to be first choice for the Chiefs before he can crack the All Blacks.
Rookie of the Season
3rd - Luke Andrews. An old rookie at 34, but Andrews showed he was far from finished forming a solid locking combination with Retallick.
2nd - Taniela Moa. Moa almost made the All Blacks before falling from favour but filled in impressively for the Bay after Junior Polu went overseas.
1st - Lelia Masaga. The Flash started slowly but bagged 10 tries by season end.
Lifetime Award
2nd - Tanerau Latimer. Lats has been with the Bay since breaking through as a teenager and is keen to play 100 games.
1st - Colin Bourke. Bourke was Rookie of the Season in 2004 and has stuck with the Bay after suffering rejection at Super level.
Player of the Season
13th - Josh Hohneck. Impressed in a struggling Bay front row, with great running and passing skills.
12th - Daniel Perrin. New recruit Perrin was limited by injuries and the form of John Pareanga but was rewarded with a spot in the Chiefs.
11th - Toby Arnold. Toby Arnold was very reliable at full-back but had to miss some games when with the victorious Commonwealth Sevens squad.
2009: 10
2007: 16
10th - John Pareanga. Pareanga had his best season in Bay colours with accurate line-out work and solid in his other work.
2008: 10
2006: 12
9th - Phil Burleigh. Burleigh struggled with injury early on and being asked to fill in for Delany. Once he was back in 12 with Delany at 10, he showed why he should be selected in the Chiefs.
2009: 5
8th - Luke Braid. Braid never shirked his duties but was often buried in the rucks ball-stealing or making tackles.
2009: 3
7th - Mike Delany. Delany's shoulder injury caused him to miss the early games and he didn't fire properly until the last couple of games when his goal-kicking and running game reappeared.
2009: 1
2008: 4
2007: 1
2006: 5
2005: 14
6th - Tanerau Latimer. Latimer never lets down the Bay, and 2010 was another season of total dedication. He is the best tackling machine playing in New Zealand.
2009: 9
2008: 3
2007: 6
2006: 11
5th - Taniela Moa. Moa turned up out of condition as emergency cover when Junior Polu went to Europe. Within a few weeks, he looked trimmer and started to run games. He was outstanding in the run-in with his power and pass a handful for the opposition.
4th - Luke Andrews. Not many Bay fans had high expectations of Andrews when he signed but he surprised everyone, starring in the line-out and working hard around the field. A real professional.
3rd - Culum Retallick. Retallick gets better and better and after a break-through season for the Chiefs, he continued his form with the Bay.
2009: 4
2008: 8
2nd - Lelia Masaga. Masaga was the Bay's biggest ever signing and we were a little worried when he looked lacking in confidence early in the season. But then the tries started coming (there were 10 in all) and the pace returned. He really is a match-winner, being able to produce a try from nothing. And his try celebrations are worth seeing.
1st - Colin Bourke. Bourke has won every award this season and it is well deserved. 75% of voters picked him as their player of the season and he was truly the heart and soul of the side in 2010. His skills are truly outstanding.
